He’s an AirMed 1 medic. He’s a paramedic and fireman. He’s Oscar Luz.
Whether he’s rolling in an ambulance or lifting off in a helicopter he’s ready to get you quickly and safely to the Emergency Room. Splitting days between Shannon Hospital and the San Angelo Fire Department keeps this man busy. Just the way he likes it.
Originally from Winters, Texas, Oscar came to Shannon via the Marines where he served for six years including one tour in Iraq. Oscar completed his fire and paramedic training through the San Angelo Fire Department.
Oscar has been a paramedic for 8 years and a flight medic for two years. He enjoys working with both the ground and air medical teams. It reminds him of his time in the military and how everyone worked together as a close knit family. He loves being in a position to make a difference and appreciates how the Shannon medical staff is always willing to share knowledge.
San Angelo is home now because of all the friends he has made here. He chose Shannon because everyone is so friendly.
When Oscar was a small child he had a fire truck and always wanted to be a fireman. Some things are just meant to be.
